Water. Mulch. Cover.
While recording this, it was 97 degrees here in Florida. 🥵 And with this crazy heat, comes trouble for a vegetable garden. Many plants can’t handle it without some help. And that help comes in the form of water, mulch, and cover.
Water: Soak your soil with your Garden Grid™. The soil temp will move toward the temp of the water. This helps because most household water is around 55-75 degrees, which is an ideal range for most garden vegetables. Wet soil also retains its temperature better than dry soil, making it more resistant to heating up when it’s hot out.

Mulch: Add a layer of it throughout your garden. Mulch acts as an insulator for your soil, further helping it retain its temperature. Mulch also has a variety of other benefits for plant health. Check out our video about mulching benefits & how to mulch with the Garden Grid, here.
Cover: Lastly, add a covering/shade over your garden. We use shade cloths of 50% sun blockage or less. This helps reduce the intensity of the sun on your plants while also allowing sunlight through so they can continue to grow and produce.
