Harvesting Tomatoes – Can You Pick Them When They’re Still Green? Why and when you would!  

Yep! Just make sure they’re at a mature size. They’ll still ripen over the following days.

Why would you want to pick them green?

1 – Reduce the chance of ripe tomatoes from falling off the vine and getting damaged.

2 – Reduce the chance of splits, especially if you’re getting an unusual amount of rain.

3 – If you have hungry critters near your garden and want to get your harvest to safety before they decide to snack.
